The legalization of prostitution is a very debatable subject. People think it would be a wise decision to legalize it for the reasons that it may make it safer and easier to control, but at the same time there are numerous people who are against the legalization. Many feel it would be a wise decision to legalize it for the reasons that it may make it safer and easier to control, but at the same time there are numerous people who are against the legalization. However I strongly disagree that prostitution should be legal. Some reasons prostitution should be kept illegal because people are taking advantage of the prostitute and they don’t respect for that person. It can lead to serious mental problems in the future. Also prostitution is not 100% safe including AIDS, which is the deadliest disease. Some young women feel that prostitution is an appropriate job to support them selves and they quite their education but this is unwise decision. Another reason prostitution is not good to have around is because the Pimps are beat, abuse or kill the prostitute as well as taking the majority or their earnings.
We live a world of borders and walls. In the 23 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, 26 other new walls and fences have gone up on political borders around the world. The constructing borders have some negative effect on segregation of family like South of Korea and North of Korea. On the other hand, we need physical walls and fences because the border protects the wealth of the country and population, and cultural practices, and establish sovereignty. I think depends on countries whether we need barrier or not. For instance, many people debate a border fence between Mexico and the U.S. People think U.S needs border fence because it makes stop the immigrants from entering illegally. I think the border fence is not the best way to stop the immigrants but statistics show that since building a fence in San Diego country, the illegal aliens, drug smuggling, and crime rates have gone down drastically. For other example, the other side of border between the United States and Canada don’t have the physical border. The cars can pass through the borders. It made me surprised and interested.
I read “stranger in a strange land” by Robert A. Heinlein. This a science fiction and it tells the story of Valentine Michael Smith, a human who comes to Earth in early adulthood after being born on the planet Mars and raised by Martians. This book it not exactly relative to landscape architecture nut it made me rethink about the earth. It is hard to ignore the accelerating growth of urbanization and destroy the environment in the world. This is rapidly developing Countries, where the expansion of urban space is currently facing a shortage of professional designers. During my internship at Hanil Environment Design Company in Korea I participated in two main projects Focus plan of Dongtan and Paju new city where I was serving as the Design Assistant. My senior landscape architecture designer let me research about the case of study of cheonggyecheon water system and design principles in Seoul which is capital in Korea. From the research I learned current problems about landscape architecture in Korea. Also flooding is a serious issue in Korea due to environmental crisis and increased urbanization. During my intern I became very interested in the problems of environment problem such as the lack of green and sustainability design, air pollution, and run off. These problems is not only Korea. It’s global problem. The future of education of landscape architecture needs to focus on all aspects of landscape and land use planning, design and management; the restoration and rehabilitation of disturbed environments. Also I think the future of education for landscape architecture will not be changed a lot. The technology tool to design will be still best way, and these tool will be developed to use easier and faster. However we need to remember that hand drawing is still the best expression for ideas and leads to create the design. As John Seeely Brwon in his article “New Learning Environments for the 21st Century” is the good ways to learn and solve the problems from classmates during studio class especially our major. In addition, non-studio classes that we need to take to support our major will be substitute to other classes because the issues are always changeable since the environmental issues float these days.
John Muir is arguably California’s most important historical environmentalist. I think he have relevancy in our world today after his death because he establish thirteen forest reserves, and it became the US Forest Service. Also Muir was involved in establishing Yosemite, Sequoia, and Grand Canyon National Parks. In pros he was the first naturalist to cross the boundary between conservation and advocacy of preservation. In cons his legacy might be arguably and not be applicable to current times. Is there someone who does have more relevance in our world today? I think President of Theodore Roosevelt have relevance in our world today because he found innovative conservation programs after this he started action that established 148 million acres of national forest, 5 national parks and 23 national monuments. When I think of what my landscape is, the answer is my hometown where is Korea. Here are the flowery spring landscapes, snowing winter landscapes, sandy beaches, rocky mountains and quietly stunning historic sites. Because of 4 seasons we have variables color of view, shape and texture.
The address is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhVwNSat1MU My family who are Carlos, Wai, Haley want to sell the property because parent are old to take care of the house and property, and they don’t want to leave the community where they grew up. Also they want to live in the elder-care facility. We didn’t care about the environment elements. We only thought about parent situation so that we decided not to protect the trees. We was thinking to move the trees but it costs and hard to grow up other place. The most important making the decisions is family situation. In personal, I agree with my family to sell the property because it is not worth that the house is too old and needs fixing. It’s unpleasant to remove the memories but it can’t be helped. What influencing impact in the process when I decided is family not environment.
B Faces of the Oil Patch describes the new face of the oil patch areas in and around Williston, Watford City, Tioga, Stanley, New Town, Parshall, and Fort Berthold. It has good benefit like explore a range of economic, demographic, financial profit, driving job, and other forms of development. On the other hand, it has many problems that the towns don’t have the infrastructure to support the uncontrolled and dramatic growth. The trucks make bad traffic all day rather than the rare vehicle traveling along the two-lane horizon to horizon. Also the workers live in makeshift housing without hope of finding homes suitable for their families. Development such as expanding road, build ski resort to promote economy is important for society but it always faces with environment problem. For example, my country built canal to promote economy boom. It helped unemployment but it caused serious environment problem. C Farmers and ranchers have encountered significant environmental and social issues these days. They face problems with their land to keep it because people want to develop their land for new use. They try to protect and preserve their properties. Also many agencies also face problems to protect the wildlife and habitats. America’s agricultural land is at risk because we have been losing more than an acre of agricultural land to development. Farm and ranch land is desirable for building because it tends to be flat which is well drained and affordable. I think converting farm land to be developed is not necessary. The reason why we need to save farmland is national economy and work food security, and protection of the environment. On the other hand, farmers and ranchers can’t success their business these days due to drought problem so they want to sell. Developer said the farm land is good for development because the land is flat. The water drought is very serious problem in California. California farmland could be fallowed this year because of the drought and reduced water deliveries to farms. One of our important need is human attachment to landscape and how we find identity in landscape and place. Landscape is not simply what we see but interpret with our mind and values. Landscape can be seen as a cultural construct in which our sense of place and memories inhere. The Hanra Mountain is very famous in Korea. I was used to go there every seasons with my family. It’s the highest and a beautiful truncated cone that is characteristic of a startovolcano. The looks is changed every season, time period or place. The four seasons are crucial for mountain. We had the different reasons to go to the mountain each seasons. In winter, me and my sister slided over the snow in a sleigh using the slope of the mountain, and in spring we watched variety of flowers of the shrub and trees. In summer, the water of valley offered natural pool. In fall, the mountain gave us the variety of fruits from the trees. The ideas of landscape and memory are important and how landscape permeates much of our thinking of who we are.
I lived in town house and we had the shared big garden in front of the houses. My sister, me and neighbors always played at garden. There were many vegetations like trees shrub and very showy. Especially, the spring and fall were very beautiful. The garden was the place where we did natural learning and play ground with vegetation, soil, variety of insects. There were big lilac tree and Jujube tree, and smell was good in Spring. We always cut the flower and put it in the vase at the room, also picked Jujube fruits. The flower of Salvia was good snack for us like juice. Since I read “A womb with a view”, I realized that my design is like my favorite garden in childhood unconsciously. My design is not minimalist because the garden was very full of the objects with rock, soil, trees, shrub, and a grape vine. In my opinion, the favorite spaces reveal and affect an environmental ideal to designers. However, we overcome and burn down the past favorite places otherwise we are not able to get out of our elitist aesthetics.
